The New York Film Festival is offering some notable free events this year, which are a fantastic complement to its incredible roster of films and programs. Of particular interest is the tribute to the venerable documentarian, Albert Maysles. Co-hosted by The Film Society of Lincoln Center, the tribute will include family recollections, special in-person appearances and clips from the documentarian’s valuable oeuvre of work. Other free events that are part of the 53rd Annual NYFF lineup include live talks sponsored by HBO, projection amphitheater programs, and convergence panels/experiences. Since this year’s NYFF runs from September 25th to October 10th, it’s half over and many great events are already behind us. Of note was an entire "Free Friday" on September 25th featuring newly restored classics. But don’t fret, if you’ve missed out on NYFF so far! Free tickets will be distributed in the lobby of Alice Tully Hall (1941 Broadway) on a first-come, first-served basis starting one hour prior to the event. Limit one ticket per person, subject to availability.

Free tickets to the HBO Directors Dialogue series will be distributed at the corresponding box office on a first-come, first-served basis starting one hour prior to the event. Please note that the line may form in advance of this time. Limit one ticket per person, subject to availability.
